If there’s one thing for sure it is that Firefly music festival this weekend in Dover, DE is going to be a good time. With music acts like Chance the Rapper, the Weeknd, Flume, and Galantis how could it not be? Here is some outfit inspo for the upcoming weekend:

The weather is expected to be a bit rough- but don’t let that stop you from having fun. The simple solution to drab weather, is a fab outfit. Take this seasons bodysuit trend to the next level by wearing your favorite crazy one-piece bathing-suit under some embroidered jean shorts. This way, if you get wet, it won’t matter! Pair it with some black boots sturdy enough to withstand the rain and mud, like these from ankle boots.

Who said active wear was just for the gym? This weekend is supposed to be hot, so its totally okay to wear a fun printed sports bra. This sports bra from Prism Sport has an explosively colorful print, which matches the vibes of the music on Saturday- artists like Kesha and Chance the Rapper are preforming! Pair it with these slouchy leather shorts from Zoe Karssen for the ultimate cool girl look. If you’re worried about being cold, throw on your favorite lightweight bomber. Top the outfit off with a cool pair of sneakers to ensure all day comfort.

Sunday is your day to take it easy, and this outfit reflects that. With artists like Muse performing and a more relaxed vibe (lets be honest, music festivals are exhausting), it’s your day to throw on a fun tank. This one from South Parade is perfect for Sunday. Tie the bottom up in a knot and throw on some cool jean shorts, like these from Zoe Karssen that have embroidered stars on the front and back pockets. To ensure maximum comfort and style, wear some statement sneakers from Nubikk. To take the outfit up a notch,

wear some colorful tasseled earrings!

This Is For the Fit Girl with a Sweet-Tooth

If you’re anything like us (and if you’re reading this then you probably are) being active is important to you, but there is that one thing you just can’t live without…sweets!

I live strictly by the dessert a day moto, but eventually, that’s going to catch up.

So for those of you who love your sweets as much as we do, here’s a little recipe that will satisfy your sweet tooth without ruining your workout! (That we know you already completed… right?) And trust us, these things are as good as they sound.

Cacao Peppermint Balls:

What you’ll need:

2 Cups raw cashews

1.5 Cups shredded, unsweetened coconut

4 TBSP cacao powder

2 TBSP coconut oil (melted)

2 TBSP 100% pure maple syrup

½ TSP peppermint extract

How you’ll do it:

  1. In your food processor, nutri-bullet, or ninja combine your cashews and shredded coconut. Blend until fully combined into nut butter consistency.
  2. Combine cacao, coconut oil, maple syrup, and peppermint—blend this until fully combined
  3. Place mixture into the fridge for 10 minutes and let it harden.
  4. Roll into 1” balls, roll in the extra cacao powder (or shredded coconut) and store in the fridge!

These guys are good for any post workout snack or just a good dessert to go with your meal, they are protein packed and taste just like a thin mint! (Move over Girl Scouts!)

Who’s with us??

Comment and let us know what you think of these guys!

3 reasons the clothes in your closet should be an investment.

You woke up this morning {hallelujah!} You got up, or will in a bit, and you will decide what you want to wear. You will decide whether you want to be the hungover-crazy-friday-nighter in a oversized t-shirt and some joggers or the put-together-I-can-hold-my-friday-liquor-better-than-you crisp denim (Black Orchid naturally,) a crisp cool tee, and some flatforms. Either way, you woke up this morning and will decide who you want to be based on how you present yourself to the world today, how you present yourself to yourself today. So why should you spend Screen Shot 2016-08-13 at 10.35.12 AM.png

So why should you spend $300 on those hand crafted Matt Bernson shoes that immediately made you drool the second you laid eyes on them? Here are three reasons your closet should be an investment.

If you are investing in a nice piece of clothing you are sure to love it before you drop that pretty penny on it! You will feel more comfortable and more confident in these garments.. The quality will be better and you will get your use out of it (make sure of this first, of course.) Feeling confident in your clothes is key.

If you only buy clothes you are obsessed with then you will see that everything you buy is your style and will go together. Not to mention you will have a closet full of nice clothes that you love and you know are nice!

Thats right, you’re worth it. You deserve to look nice with the money you worked hard to earn. You deserve to feel amazing in that nice
pair of jeans that fit you perfectly with their liquify fabric that just molds to your body (Black Orchid liquify of course.)Screen Shot 2016-08-13 at 10.40.35 AM.png

So buy those Matt Bernson shoes you have been drooling over. Buy that Soia & Kyo vest that can be converted from fall to summer to spring and last a lifetime. Don’t let the world tell you who you are, tell the world who you are, and tell it with your impeccable style choices.

The time to invest is now… go go go!

Our Favorite Spring Jackets

The time has finally come. The heat is turning up and clothes are shedding off. That is until you walk outside of your apartment and goose bumps appear. Sometimes we get too confident that the warm weather will pull through but that isn’t always realistic. This is where the spring jacket comes in. Here we have selected 4 types of jackets we will be rocking during these transitional months.

  1. Bomber Jackets have been everywhere lately. The Up All Night bomber from Zoe Karssen adds a cool vibe to light wash denim and sneakers.

Screen Shot 2016-04-29 at 12.42.42 PM.png

2. Denim Jackets will always have a place in our hearts. When styled correctly they can dress down an outfit and make it weekend-appropriate.

3. Trench Coats are perfect for layering over your work outfit. They add a layer of structure and class to your ensemble.

4.  A blazer works wonders this time of the year. You can dress it up or down depending on the pieces you pair it with. We love the idea of belting it to show off the waist!

Trending Now | Patched Denim

Personalized denim is having a moment. From bleach to scissors to embellishments, designers are coming up with endless new ways to put a spin on your blue jeans. The latest trend in the personalized denim market is patched denim. The collection of artfully placed embroidered patches offers your outfit a fun statement. Today, we’re going to show you our favorite ways people have styled the Zoe Karssen patchwork denim jeans.

Stylist and Blogger Lizzy styled her denim with a Zoe Karssen graphic tee and a bright red tartan jacket. She kept her hair and makeup minimal as to not overpower her bold look.

Vera, dutch model, amped up the edge with her tough look. The patched denim adds a fun pop of color to the all black outfit. Off-duty chic at its finest!

Chiara, famed blogger, threw on a pair of Zoe Karssen star patched denim to round off her airport look. She paired the denim with white sneaks, a relaxed hoodie, and a bomber. Not to mention her fab Louis luggage.

Rock Your Week

Happy Monday! Here we go, here we go, here we go again!

After an insane weekend of hanging out with all the cool, pale kids at the Atlanta Gluten-Free and Allergen Expo (excuse me while I push my glasses back up the bridge of my nose), we are ready to kill this week of work and play.

We are going to keep it short and sweet because we are all busy people. But here are a few tips to help start your week off strong.

Clean clothes game

Every week I go to do this. And most weeks I give up. But the weeks I complete the task, the rest of the days are smooth sailing.

What on God’s green Earth am I talking about?

Picking out your outfits for the week. Just like your mom used to do when you were in elementary school.

No one wants to try and be creative and cute at 6:30 in the morning when you are tired and wine headachy and stressed about the to-do list on your desk.

Pick out every detail of your outfit the night before (necklaces, shoes, everything). It will make your morning easier, and you will feel great at 2 p.m. when you are in a meeting and so relieved that you decided not to go with leggings and an oversized sweater for the fourth day in a row.

Clean eating game

I am fully aware that we talk about food on this blog more often than is healthy. We realize we have a problem. But life is too short to not eat dessert every day.

Pack snacks and a good lunch for yourself. Your work day will thank you.

There is nothing like the disappointment of realizing at 11, with the first pangs of lunch hunger, that you packed half an apple and a slice of ham to get you through the day. Gross.

Give yourself something to look forward to. Bribe yourself. It works.

Pack a lunch that makes you excited. It divides the work day up quite nicely.

Happy week, everyone.

Exclusive interview with new author J.M. Storin

One of the most amazing things in life is when you get to work on something you love with someone you admire.

That’s what happened to me when YA author J.M. Storin contacted me about editing her new novel, The Paladin (available on Amazon in one week, April 8).

This past year has been an incredible one for The Paladin and for J.M. Storin. She has produced a novel, published that novel, and created an amazing social media following.

J.M. Storin was kind enough to grant 810 Showroom an exclusive interview to discuss her book, her journey, and making her dream a reality.

She is delightful, kind, and upbeat as she is talented.

Just like with the fanny pack, there are certain trends that continue to shock me as they make their way back into popularity.

One of these is the choker. Ah, yes. The infamous, beautiful, is-she-in-pain-or-just-accessorizing choker. Made popular in the 90s by who even knows.

Even this pixelated image shows us how pivotal this trend was in the 90s. Sabrina wore it. Sabrina! Who dated Harvey, the dreamiest guy ever.

Catch our drift?

Beachy Authors

Spring is the best time to knock out a few books that have been sitting on your bookshelf all year. The weather is nice, the days are longer, we find ourselves at beaches and pools more.

It is just a good situation all around.

However, finding an excellent beach author can be tricky.

While we want to read amazing novels on all our outdoor adventures (read: drinking things by a pool), tanning weather is not the time to try your hand at War and Peace. There is a delicate balance needed between a hearty read and yet one that won’t cramp your mojito style because the plot is too complicated.

Below are a few of our favorite authors as you hit your favorite vacay spots in the upcoming weeks and try to get your tan on.

Something Fishy

We can’t get over it! Spring is here! And we are trying to incorporate it into every aspect of our days.

Whether we are working late in the yard because we can or sleeping in because it is just too dark to get up quite yet, we are blaming spring.

And this holds true for our diets.

While some of us are rocking three coolers for all our cold goods this week because the fridge broke last week, I know that most of you are rocking that refrigerated life. Enjoy that cool coffee creamer, you lucky bitches.

Now — on to more important matters. Dinner.

Living in Florida, we are required to love seafood. But grilled salmon with buttered veggies is only good so many nights a week.

Read on for ways to “spring” up your menu this week with some fresh ways to fish it up.
