Mean Girls is a timeless masterpiece that will stand the test of time for ages to come.
It is easily one of the most quotable movies for Millennials and is applicable in almost any situation.
Last week, we were having a Writer’s Workshop at work and were assigned with crafting Tweets centered around a marketing idea. I know. My work sounds super prestigious.
Naturally, I wrote the only sensible thing that came to mind.
“You’re value proposition is like really strong. So you agree? You think your value proposition is really strong?”
My boss (who I’m not really sure knows Mean Girls well enough to quote it) praised my genius for the afternoon.
The moral of the story here is that Mean Girls, when used correctly, will land you a promotion and a better car.
Thank you, Mean Girls, for continuing to make the world a better place.
To celebrate, I have pulled the top five applicable Mean Girls quotes now that we are adults. Because Mean Girls grows with us, and takes on newer, deeper meanings.
This is all true.
- Would you like us to assign someone to butter your muffin?
This is a more obscure one, although genius nonetheless.
As an adult, this quote definitely makes our top five list.
Not in a gross way. Get your adult mind out of the gutter.
I just actually need help providing quality food for myself.
You brought condiments for my meal? Wonderful! Thank you? The more the better! It takes a village to feed a human.
- *eating in the bathroom scene*
Sometimes, as a grown-up, you just need some alone time. And that is just fine. No need to explain yourself or come up with excuses.
Just make sure you are not eating alone because you made all the girls mad. That’s not what we want.
- You’re like really pretty. So you agree? You think you’re really pretty?
Tripping people up with words is one of the best ways to get out of a meeting you are unprepared for.
It’s a jungle out there, kids. Be prepared with some quick jabs to get you out of binds.
Also – make sure that you know that you’re really pretty. And make sure that you tell yourself often. It’s important and good for the soul.
- She doesn’t even go here.
You have your friends. They are your adult, grown-up people friends. Your adult social circle may be way smaller than your high school, or even college, social circle but it is just better.
Plus, without new classes every semester, we all have less access to strangers. So, we know who our people are.
Hell hath no side-eye glances like the random co-worker who invites herself to Thursday happy hour. We have our adult squad. You may go now.
- You can’t sit with us.
This kinda ties in with number two. Adults like who they like and we don’t get a lot of spare time so we wanna like all the people we are with.
As grown-ups, we don’t have to hang out with people we don’t want to hang out with. It is one of the many joys of being a functional, adult human person.
So, hang out with who you wanna hang out with and don’t feel the need to apologize.
Comment below with any important Mean Girls quotes we missed that are super applicable in adulthood.
