Congratulations! We made it to Tuesday. Only four more days until the weekend! Oh. Dear. And yet …
Here at 810 Showroom, we don’t think you should have to wait until Friday to celebrate. Instead, we are here to help you add some sunshine and sparkle into your week.
Even on a Tuesday.
While you will not find us doing tequila shots tonight (probably), we are celebrating this day with some incredible food and maybe, possibly, definitely a drink. Yep! Drinks are definitely in order for us. And while we love a good cocktail, no one wants to wake up with a syrupy, sloth-like Wednesday hangover.
Margaritas are the Chandler Bing of adult beverages – they are salty, can be sweet, and appreciate a good chip. However, store bought margarita mixes can be heavy and leave you with a sugar stomachache in addition to a tipsy brain. And the “skinny” margarita mixes? Honey, we are trying to fit into our skinny jeans as much as the next gal but life is too short to sip watered down tequila drinks. Homemade margarita mixes are the cheapest, easiest, and most delicious way to go. This week we are giving you our recipe for Skinny Sassy Simple Margaritas.
On your way home from work, swing by the store and grab:
Lemonade (we prefer Simply Lemonade)
Limeade (again, Simply Limeade)
An orange (any orange will do)
With this grocery list, we are assuming that you already have:
Salt or sugar
First things first, go ahead and rub an orange slice along the rim of your glass. Then dip your glass into salt or sugar, whichever is your preference. With the sweetness of the lemonade in the margarita, we recommend using salt. It will give your drink a nice balance.
In a shaker, pour yourself a cup of lemonade, a hefty splash (1/4 – 1/2 cup) of limeade, and a shot (or two – we are not judging) of tequila. Shake that shaker like you are on the Shake Weight infomercial and pour into your salted/sugared glass.
This margarita is so great because it is made of juice. It is practically a fruit salad. Be sure to count this into your daily fruit serving counter. Enjoy!
And, if you’re feeling extra fancy, make some homemade tortilla chips to snack on! Homemade tortilla chips are laughably easy to make but will trick others into thinking that you are basically a less-obsessed-with-orange Rachel Ray.
Olive oil PAM
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet generously with olive oil Pam. Cut corn tortillas into fourths or eighths. Dealer’s choice. Spread out onto cookie sheet; some overlapping is fine. Spray the tortillas with olive oil Pam and salt generously. Bake for 10-13 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Just like our Skinny Sassy Simple Margaritas, these chips are light and delicious and way too easy to make.
We believe in good clothes, doing good work, and turning a Tuesday into a party with minimal effort.
If you need a few more suggestions on how to turn your Tequila Tuesday a little more fiesta-y, you could always wear a sombrero for the entire day, force-feed all of your friends and co-workers tiny appetizers all day, and have a piñata at your desk, just in case.
Cheers. Here’s to a lovely week.
